This may be putting the cart before the proverbial horse, but I am wondering first, can an F-150 with a beefier trailer package pull a Jubilee with a brush hog or plow/disc on a 18 foot trailer and if so, what trailer size/type specifically are we talking? I just bought a Jubilee with 12 implements and need to get them home but am also looking to tow the tractor to do some work elsewhere. Any info helps. Thanks.

What are you smoking?? For Safety and everyone else on the road. And speaking from experience, buy a trailer about double of what you need. Maybe not double but I bought a gooseneck 14,000# gvw trailer for towing 10,000# over 2 tractors. I have had to beef it up and make heavier ramps and replaced the neck. One good bounce on the road and you're bent. Buy a good sturdy, way over rated trailer and a minumun F-250 and probably a f-350 for hauling. You won't be disappointed and feel alot more comfortable driving on the roads!!

I haved pulled a trailer with my Ford 3000 with loader and a plow behind an F-150 many miles with no problem. Its not that heavy a load under 7000 lbs including trailer. Get a 2 axle 18 ft trailer with brakes on both axles and a breakaway switch. I like a trailer with the bed down between the axles because center of gravity is lower. Keep good tires on it and chain the tractor down good. As Y-Bone said slower is better. Don't get in a hurry and remeber you are pulling a trailer, think ahead.

Hope this helps

Hi Eric,

A F150 is rated to pull 7600lb to 8800lb trailer depending on the truck configuration and year, quotes for a 2k2.

The trailer is responsible for stopping the GVW of the trailer. I have no idea what your tractor weighs nor load weight.

From experience tho, 8800lb behind a 1/2ton, thats about 15k GCW, you best have all your ducks in a row as any thing goes wrong, blow out, stop on a steep grade, etc; your going to have your hands full of alot of weight that may not go the direction you want it too. This is where a heavier tow vechile can save you.

The term slower is best applies to any load.

I have hauled tractors a lot of miles with my F-150. An F-150 works just fine to tow with. Might not be quite as fast or beefy as the big boys but they get the job done. Good brakes on the trailer and truck are a must in any case. If you plan to use it a lot, a set of airbags and a sway bar are a wothwhile investment. And don't way overload it. The 8-N and one mounted implement at a time it should handle no problem. Heavier towed implements like a baler you will have to handle as a load of their own.
use common sence and it will work fine.
