Question on a Super A transmission: There is a hole located in a recessed area on the right side of the transmission that I assume is to check the oil level. On the one I'm working on, the hole does not appear to be tapped for a screw plug, and is irregularly shaped. Is there a special plug that should go in there? I haven't been able to get a good look at it.

Don't know what hole you are refering to, but to check the transmission oil level on an A/Super A etc., there is a small pipe plug on the left side of the transmission, low and toward the front of the trans, behind the rod that operates the left side brake. When oil comes out there, it's full.
