My father in law was killed when the David Brown 3800 Selectamatic he was driving appeared to witnesses to have suddenly sped up; he entered the barn and the tractor went through the back wall of the barn. Tragically he was pinned beneath the wheel and died. Has anyone ever heard of sudden acceleration or a reason for the speed up of this model tractor or any problems with it? I would appreciate any info. no matter how small. Thank you.

Barbara, Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm also sorry no one has responded to your questions. On the JD Board there is a discussion about a 4010 overrevving. It is under 4010 diesel. It may be helpful. David Brown was bought out by Case. You might try posting on the Case board. David Browns were English built, as were Fordsons. You might try a post on that board. I would think that a good mechanic could look at the tractor and find the problem. I hope you find some answers. You have my sympathy.
