spent $28 yesterday for a fuel filter. it had the screw down lid attached to the filter. i recken we're payin for a cap we don't need. does anybody sell a drop in filter? i'd just as soon keep my old screw in cap and save some $

Hi mudstuck,

I can't tell you what new filters cost as I bought 30 of them when I bought the new F350 at $11.??. About 6mths latter, all of a sudden they jumped up too the mid $17 range.

I got the Racor Inf-4596 as Racor was the original filter mfg. Fleetguard #FF-5418, Baldwin PF-7698, Wix also builds one but I don't have the number.

We are talking about the 7.3? As $28 sounds high priced.

believe i'll go with them drop-ins and use the cap. it is the 7.3.

pulled with it for the 2nd. time last week. hauled a bobcat, auger, bucket, and bobcat backhoe attachment. truck ran just like everyone told me it would. i like that 6 speed.

I thoink they started making the new filters w/cap because people were screwing up the o-rings causing the sucker to pump fuel all over the place. The one time in my life I was too lazy to can oil and filters, the lube place lost the o-rings. I was just starting a trip and had have a lot of fuel pumped out, part of which drained into the bell housing and cleaned the grease out of the throw out bearing. Needless to say I wasn't too happy.
I also discovered the new filters run about the same price as the old ones.

You can buy them for 12 bucks through an IHC
truck dealer, it's an international engine.

first off i didn't pay 40k for my truck. 2nd. off i maintain 7 pieces of equipment. if i can save some money here and there it ain't carpin at all... jeez

oh, an a 3rd thing i ain't a grumblin. i just asked a friend of mine for some useful informattion. then you piped in.

Amen!I knew when I bought my 350 Powerstroke maintenence was going to be....well high.16 quarts of oil,SCAs,fuel filters,all of it.But 28 bucks for a fuel filter is high.I get the one with the cap since the cap alone at Ford was almost as much as the Baldwin filter I get from a local supplier for 9 bucks with a cap.I bought like 20 of them at one time,now I think they are like 12.But I fiqure the truck will get me 200000 miles if I take care of it properly,PLUS its an International,red flows through its veins as well!
