Just got a call a very good friend of mine rolled a tractor on him this morning. Funeral is tuesday. 67 years young worked hard all his life, grew up on a small farm running tractors worked oil fields then 30 yrs+ as pipefitter. was not afraid to climb on anything or work on anything. has 3 TLB's, 2 dozers, 5 tractors MF35-65's and operatered all kinds of equipment. Yet he is dead not certain how it happened but it rolled on him. Probably soft ground due to spring and a lot of rains also arthritus has slowed him down in the back and hands. SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND THINK THRU WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
Ron

Sorry to hear about your friend. Seems that the good Lord has watched over me a few times because I am still here today. Lost a cousin in the early 80's when his tractor rolled over on him. He was a dairyman in Oklahoma and was putting out round bales for the herd. He left a wife and two very younng daughters when that accident occured.

Also folks, be careful when giving children rides on open cab tractors. When I was living in Texas one of my neighbors had his son sitting on the fender of the tractor with him while he was discing. He son slipped and fell off the back. He couldn't slow/stop fast enough. The 5 year old boy lived for about 6 hours. This happened almost 20 years ago, and last time I saw him a year and a half ago he was still carrying the pain from what happened.

later days mates,
Jim

I've known half a dozen people that "bit the dust" on their tractors, and they were all seasoned and experienced operators. One dairy farmer near me, 70 years old, took some time off from crop work and commenced mowing his lawn and got killed on his John Deere lawn tractor - so there's no moral to the story, and no amount of planning or thought can completely safeguard anyone. It's human nature to make errors in judgement and it's often hard to foresee the unforseen. I used to think I was a pretty smart guy being around heavy equipment my whole life, and I've been in two bad tractor accidents, one breaking my neck. I was lucky though, I'm still here to tell about it.
