I may have an after-market oil canister on the engine I'm working on (1953 Dodge D-46 6cyl flthd). The canister says "USE JC CARTRIDGE" and
"USE G-101 GASKET" . DELUXE PROD. CORP. - LAPORTE,IND. The old filter is a 5" round top and it's like nothing I've ever seen before.
(The engine is supposed to have come out of a Massey combine, but who knows?) Appreciate any help to find a filter / number. Thanks.

JC cartridge crosses to Hastings #LF501.
Can't find the gasket #.

If that Hastings number is correct, it crosses to a WIX #51011.

5.562" Hi
4.063" OD
.563" ID

Gasket choices with that one:

WIX #15008

4.515" OD
.062" thick

WIX #61062 is a popular cartridge filter element for the old Chrysler flatheads.

6.526" Hi
3.278" OD
1.035" ID

WIX #51080 is another one.

4.218" Hi
3.367" OD
.578" ID Top
.706" ID Bottom

One or more of these gaskets MAY come with either cartridge, or than can be ordered separately, if a certain one is needed that is not included with the filter that fits your cannister.

WIX #15062 4.687" OD .062" thick
WIX #15064 4.154" OD .062" thick
WIX #15085 4.000" OD .062" thick

Check this out, to see if either one of these will fit, and if you need further information, contact me, if you want. Do you have an old cartridge to measure?

I dug the filter out. (Whew!) It looks like the end of a salami with a sweat sock over it (and smells almost as bad !) Measures +/- 5" tall and +/- 4" dia. Has a bottom opening +/- 1-1/4" and then a smaller opening (about an inch from the top) +/- 5/8" and that has a rubber grommet in it. This make any sense ? Guess I'll take it with me when I go back to NAPA . Never run across one like this before. Everything I've worked on usually has a C 134 PL in it .

WIX specifically lists the #51011 as a "sock type", so I'll bet you are on the right track!

The cotton sock was to absorb condensation in the oil in the days before positive crankcase ventilation and detergent oil!

As far as the internal measurements, I'll bet they are the inside measurements of the rubber grommets.

Also, I see an error crept into my first post... the #61062 SHOULD HAVE BEEN #51062.

Take the whole cannister down to Napa, and let them fit a filter to it. That's what I did with my 101 Senior.
