I posed this question on Ferguson Board w/out an answer.I have an TO 30.Mounted in the center of the steering wheel is a device about six inch diameter and four inches thick. It's marked KOSCH STEERING AID. It seems to be almost a sealed unit.In any event,it is of little use in easing steering as far as I can tell.It does however hold the steering in a sort of selected position until the wheel position is manually moved.I have never heard of this device .Does anyone have information on this equipment. Thanks,Ol Chief in Texas

The steering aid had a type of centrifical clutch to prevent the steering wheel from jerking out of your hands if the wheels hit a rock. If it started to spin fast enough, it was stopped to save your thumb. My Dad said they used them on the old manual steer combines when he was younger and I have a WD allis with one. Mine has since rusted and dont do anything now.

I really know little about them. I think they are some type of shock absorber. You could do a search on the forum, maybe you will find out something. Sherman used to make one also. I have been looking for one to purchase.
