Do you think that a white 2-105 is too big for making hay? I cut with a JD 920 diskbine, rake with a pequea hr10 rotary rake, and bale with a new holland 273 sq and 850 rnd. I currently do this with a deutz 60-06 and case 400, But I would like to look at the white for the cab with air and over under trans. It is rated at 106 pto and 87 drawbar hp and 11,400 lbs. What do you think???

No, it sure isn't. They're easy on fuel, and quiet, smooth, and comfortable. The hydraulic PTO engagement will make all the starts and stops much nicer, and the power brakes are a boon on hills. That 2-105 will turn sharper than lots of tractors half it's size, also, so maneuverability certainly isn't an issue. The tilt/telescopic steering, and the nice seat--not to mention the A/C--will sure make a long day in the saddle a lot less tiring. It would only really be overkill on the rake; save your Deutz for that.

Your white probably doesn't take any more fuel than a 50 to 60 horse gas tractor which many people use. Also the extra weight and power is nice when you have really big loads or have to pull up a hill.

I prefer no cab. I like to hear the baler. I can do a better job of keeping it full and makeing better bales.

Too big, yes, but that really doesnt hurt anything except it takes more fuel and and can increase the scope of the breakdown. I used a 2090 Case (105 hp) for several years doing what you describe. Finally was able to switch over to 86 hp Fords but it did fine. Main thing I noticed was it cut my repair bills by 10-15% (and my discmowers last longer) and cut my fuel bill in half (there were weeks with the 2090 that I would have to get my tank (300 gallons) filled twice.

That White is the same size as the Case 1070's we use. They are the perfect size but we do use a larger square baler, we have a NH 570 and can get 220 bales on our racks. I would go for it, if you like Whites.

Too big?!? If anything I'd say it's about perfect for everything but the rake. Nice tractor too.

Thats what I was thinking! for those of you that think it's to big, you must not have any hills?!
around here, that 2-105 is almost to SMALL for a discbine
