me and my buddies are rebuilding a co-op e4 engine, and we don't have a clue what model of engine it is, for ordering parts, it is a buda engine, any help would be greatly appreciated, We plan on sticking this engine into a cockshutt 40 (1952), I can't wait!

You can still order a kit for that engine from a good parts supplier or from phil heisey in PA. just keep checking and he will probably answer your questions on this forum or post on the oliver he is on there often

The E4 engine is a Buda 6B230. It has a 6.18:1
compression ratio, bore is 3 7/16", stroke 4 1/8"
It has 7 main bearings and produces 37.85 hp at
the drawbar and 43.30 on the belt pulley. The
same engine was available in diesel power.

Is it real tough to find parts for this engine? I was going to turn the crank and change bearings seals and rings, is a gasket kit still available?

Parts should be no problem from a good engine
machine/rebuild shop or parts store. You can
also find part sources at www.cockshutt.com The Cockshutt Club is a great source of info
for paint, parts, history and links.

Could you tell me what the valve settings should be and the torque for the studs on the head and the torque for the caps and main bearings

ps, me and my friends are sure having alot of fun overhauling this engine, its been a blast so far

also what is a Farmall A worth, it comes with a parts tractor, every thing is there and it needs paint and probably an engine overhaul and carb rebuild
