The mounting bracket on my 6 volt generator broke, so I purchased an aftermarket replacement. It is only a single wire so I didn't think it should be a a difficult swap.

Now when I turn the key "ON" the generatator spins even though the tractor is not running. Is it backfeeding somehow???

You need a cut out.

Generators will motor when electricity is applied to them. The old cutouts were a coil and point set up I think someone is making solid state units now. Just a diode adequite of handling the ampreage.

Check the parts section of this site or the store where you got the generator.

I had this happen to me with a 12v alternator when a contact stuck in a new voltage regulator. Once I freed the contact it quit misbehaving.
