Hello everyone,

Our tractor club is entertaining the thought of having a tractor games day this summer and I was wondering if you would post some of your favourite tractor games. I can then take them to the next meeting for discussion.

What I need is;

The name of the game (if there is one)
The object of the game
Rules for the game
and space and equipment requirements

Feel free to post as many as you can rememeber.

Thanks for reading and thanks to all who reply with a game.

Our club has tractor games also.some of the games we do have been mentioned .We do a figure 8 with husband & wife teams blindfolded. Also the chain in the box use a long lengh of log chain or put two together hooked to the drawbar chalk out a square area 3x3foot or so.You start by having the chain fully extended with the end hook in the box and the other end on tractor its a timed event tractor drives foward & backward untill all the chain is in the box fastest time wins.

Once saw square dancing with tractors. Needs to be small tricyle type. Little more than a game though.

Egg races are neat. Put an egg on a spoon, get on the tractor, drive the course, bring back the egg. First one back without a broken egg wins.

Have seen a tractor turn over on the barrel race. It can be dangerous. Barrel spun around from in front of the tractor and lined up with the rear tire. When the rear tire hit the barrel the barrel stood up. Tire went up with it and tractor turned over. It can be one of the "faster" races and does bring some concerns with it.

tractor square dancing done around here every year and boy do they move, the tires will throw mud 10-15 ft., tire to tire at 8 mile per hour, they have also had rollovers. Main man is in his 80's and had to switch to a tractor with power steering (WD45) will not slow the dance down

The barrel roll is great fun! Set up any size corse. The corse size I have seen was probably 200 feet long and about the same width. Two cones are placed about 3/4 of the way from the starting line to far end of corse. Set up 2 rows of tractors with two EMPTY 1/2 barrel beer kegs, one barrel at the starting line in front of each tractor line. (Must be even number of tractors in the rows like 10 in each line, 11 in each line or what ever number in one line it must be the same in the other line.) The tractors push the barrel with their front wheels down the corse and around the cones and back the the starting line. The first one across the starting line wins and stays in the game. (Make sure you leave room, maybe 2 tractor lengths from the starting line to the line of tractors waiting their turn!) First round eliminates one half of the tractors. Then you start round 2 to eliminate one half of the second round of tractors, winners from the first round, etc. until there is only one tractor left. THE WINNER!

I would vote for the slow race. I saw one on TV once, and it was a riot. They started the race, and this fellow who had a John Deere BO Lindeman crawler--he idled it down in low, and then climbed off the tractor and went to stand in line and buy a hot dog at the concession stand.

Meanwhile the little crawler just inched all by itself down the track.

People were ribbing him; "Hey! aren't you afraid of that getting away from you?" He was like; "Nah, I will catch up with it later."

Then the officials started bugging him, saying things like; "Well, this is a race you know, and you do have to be present to win!"

I think he did win. Never saw anything move so slow in my life.

The timed, blindfolded operator Obsacale course setup with red cones. This is a kick to do and a whole lot harder than you think, but it is a blast.
Set up a zig zag course with a 180 degree turn at the end a then make it straight going back to starting gate. Choose up 2 person teams, using the same tractor, idle and low gear only to start. Blindfold the operator, have the other team memmber ride along and give operaor directions, after the 180 turn they can advance the thottle and speed to the finish line.(low gear) The team with the fastest time and no penilties wins. Have fun,
bob

In FFA they have a tractor driving competition where participants have to hook onto a 4 wheel wagon and drive around an obstacle course and then back the wagon into a tight space just big enough for the wagon without taking out any of the obstacles (if they do, there are time penaltys for each one they hit). Obstacles can be fiberglass electric fence posts or wooden stakes with flagging tape, twine, traffic cones, bales of hay, etc... Who ever has the fastest time wins. This is also done with 2 wheel wagons too. In FFA, everybody used the same tractor, but I suppose it might make it even more fun and interesting if everybody used their own.

Slow race - object - be the slowest rules - clutch must be fully disengaged, if tractor dies it is dq'd. Space required is length of distance you want, times width for number of tractors you want to run at one time. Easiest game of all.

You might want to offer crash helmets for safety. To the spectators, not the drivers, in case the spectators fall asleep....

We run slow race forward and then backwards over the same distance! That makes the deere guys kind of pouty though as man can they motor in reverse! One fair has deere only race so some of them can win a prize but then again its run by a deere collector!
