I dont have a picture but I was with a friend today and we were talking about tractors and he knew of one on some land behind him and we rode up there to see what it was. Ive never seen one so I will describe it as best as I can. It was on full steel of course, and it was narrow maybe 4 feet wide. The tag as best I could read said EMERSON BRANINGHAM. Rockford Ill. Does this ring anyones bell???? I have never seen or heard of one. Any help?????

Brad: It is indeed what the tag describes, actually the spelling is Emerson Brantingham. I just took a qiuck look at Encyclopedia of American Farm Tractors. The roots of the company began in the mid 1850s. It had several owners and in 1909 Ralph Emerson and Charles Brantingham formed the Emerson Brantingham Company. They bought several other companies after that namely Reeves & Company, Columbbus IN; Rockford Engine works, Rockford IL; Gas Traction Co; Minneapolis MN, "Big 4" Tractor Works, Winnipeg Manitobia; Geiser Manufacturing Co., Waynesboro,PA and several smaller companies. The Company was sold to J.I. Case Company in 1928.

Just looking at the 3 pages in the Encyclopedia E-B had quite a large line of tractors all the way to 65 hp, including row crops. There is a lot of photos in this, if you could post a photo, I think we could ID the model.

If the rear wheels are close together with open gear drive and the front wheels are wide apart there is a good chance it is a 12-20 model like the one I have. Apparently quite rare as I have been trying to find another owner via the internet for over a year with no success. Looking forward to seeing the picture.

An E-B is a great find! Please post some pictures!. E-Bs are a cousin to Case, as the company was bought out by the Case company. I'm sure if you went over to the Case board, you'd get a lot of support from the Case collectors.
