I'm thinking of purchasing a PJ gooseneck trailer to haul tractors and hay on. They have the best price in my area on trailers. Wondering if any of you have had any experience with this brand. It is a 25ft 14,000 GVW trailer. Thanks for any thoughts and opinions.

I have a 30 foot PJ gooseneck with tandem duals and three fold over ramps with dove tail. I have hauled across country with the trailer fully loaded with no problems. Trailer tracks and handles very good behind truck. As for other post relating troubles with electric brakes, I have electric brakes on mine with no trouble at all. I suggest having a competent mechanic check the brakes if you feel thier not working properly. Hit my brakes and you'll think someone threw an anchor out the back door! Would recommend PJ brand without any reservations.

I bought a new PJ 29 foot GN in 2001. It's equipped with two 10,000 lb axles, triple ramps and an 8,000 lb winch. I liked many of the features of the PJ ie: built in lockable tool/chain storage, standard spare and of course price. I have pulled the trailer several thousand miles hauling tractors with absolutely no trouble. I would buy another. The only change I would make is the brakes. I let the dealer talk me into electric brakes. That was a mistake.

Loren, Are you saying that you prefer surge brakes? If so, why?

Paul, I have talked to several long time experienced trailer pullers and they all told me the vacuum over hydraulic brakes were superior to the electric brakes. I went with the electric because of lower cost. I'm not happy with them at all. The trailer has been back to the dealer several times and he has worked on the brakes each time and did make some improvements, but I still feel the brakes are not adequate for a trailer this size.

I 'spect Loren is saying he'd rather have had vacuum/hydraulic brakes; I totally agree.

See above post ..."does auction buying void warrantee?" Any dealer that refused to provide an owner's manual (how much could THAT cost?) wouldn't get any of my business!

Aaron, I bought a bumper hitch 18' last year and think they make a very good trailer - for the price! Paints not as good as a Mac Lander but the price isn't the same either. Pulls real well and has worked for me. My 0.02

Aaron--I have an 18' BP and I can't say enough good about it. It's rated for 10K, but I've had that much in hay on it and it ran down the road no problem. I have my eye on a 28' GN with the triple ramps. I agree with Dave about the third ramp. A neighbor bought one without, went back and had the dealer install the third ramp.

Thanks for the opinions. It sounds like overall they are built good. I also questioned the post about the manufacturer not honoring the warrenty or suppling an owners manual when trailer was bought at an auction. Things to consider!
Thanks Again, Aaron

My brother-in-law had one after the axle breaking and the wheel coming off he traded and went with a Delta. I also have a delta and haven't had any problems. Use it the sam way that your planning to use it for. Mine is 25' haul 11 bales and have hauled 12. We put the 12th one on the neck. Lay it flat of course. My bales are 4X6. Mine is tandem ax with single tires. It has the three ramps. Paid around $4,000
for mine and that was new. If your going to haul tractors i suggest the three ramps. If you go with just two ramps, its alittle trickier for loading a narrow front tractor. For hauling hay
with three ramps all you have to do is put a piece of diamond plate over the ramps. Don't make it all one piece tho. 1/8 thick will do just fine. Thats what i'm planning to do with mine. Make it in 2 pieces to make it easier to take on and off when you need to.

Aaron, I bought one about 1 1/2 years ago. I had it delivered in Oregon... I got a 28 footer. It was so much extra for each extra foot. I also got the torsion springs, flip-up ramps, spare, and the extra tie downs. All for $5000. It was the best I could find here in the NW. I'd recommend that 3rd ramp too. I didn't get it, but once the ramp is flipped up, you have more platform to haul your hay with...
