I have a belarus tractor 1999 800 4x4 24 volt with about 400 hours with cab.I cant get it start.i have put a new battery on. i can jump start it and drive it when i shut it off it want start. i have been told it could be the black box or a ground not making good connection .my problem started when i was working on the lights getting them to work. but i dont really think working on the lights was the problem un less i messed up one of the ground wires. any help please. these tractors are complated! thanks B.J.

There is a parallel switch in between the baterries.Remove the cover and check the strip fuses in there. There are spare fuses on the backside of the cover.

The russians do have some good ideas, and i assume your is actually a 24 volt start and 12 volt run. The advice to check grounds is good but it is possible a contact has burnt off inside the 24/12 switching relay. Giving it a jump will provide enough "oomp" to start on 12 volts operation[ older models were straight 12volt] check the voltage at the starter when attempting to start[load voltage] The Belarus web site has a FAQ section to get the load voltage and whatever you need. Yuo might have to search the "canadian" site for some stuff also. Belarus.ca
Hope it helps

I don't know your tractor but when you say 24 volt starting I think you have 2 batteries, then you say you put "A new battery" in I think one battery. On our truck we always have to replace batteries in pairs or the one old one kills the new one. Just a thought that may help you.

I think you answered your own question. If it was working before you worked on the lights, you probably lost the ground on one side of the 24V system. If it is like the old 24V systems on the 3010/4010, 3020/4020 Diesels, each battery had its own ground to allow 12V lights and accessories to be used and allow 24V starting, however, proper grounding was necessary to allow the system to be "balanced", and allow each battery to charge equally, and share the load. From what I remember, the ground(s) were basically a 10 guage wire, so it would be easy to lose ground and not notice it.

The 12V run 24V start system is an all together different system than the Deere -12V, +12v & 24V isolated system.
