I have a 97 Ford(NH) 3930 4WD with eight speed shuttle shift. I pull a seven ft. disc mower, a six ft rotary cutter and a Ford 531 square baler. I am very pleased with the tractor especially the independent pto and the shuttle. The only problem that I have had is a front wheel seal began to leak but it was repaired under warranty. I now have 700 hrs. on it.

I have a 98 model great all around tractor 53 hp engine, 50 net hp and 45 pto. pull plows, 6 foot disc, 7 foot haybine, square baler, did pull a NH 845 round baler(now have a NH 630). Use to grade, pull hay wagons, feed cows, fence and many other items. If it fits your needs get one can't go wrong. The only drawback was the outside seals for the rear brakes in which brake rod rode, new ones wore out quick-but was a manufacturer problem and is now fixed.

On MFD units, check to see there is oil in the front axle center section and there is no leak at the front axle's rear center pivot. Check the front planetaries, too. Front axle repairs get VERY spendy very quickly. If it has the 8x8 mechanical shuttle, be sure the forward and reverse synchronizer allows shifting without grinding.
