I just discovered a company in Turkey that makes power steering conversion kits for tractors. It looks rather interesting and I wonder if anybody knows anything about this?? I have no idea how much these things cost. I am trying to convert an Oliver 550 to power steering.

The 550 has the same steering system as used on Fords 8N thru 900. Kits offered on the link below by jackson power steering can be picked up and modified for the 550. I have accumulated most of the parts to add to my Super 55 this summer. The main and most expensive part is the Char Lynn hydraulic control. My system will use the front axel to the tie rods instead of radius rods to the tie rod. Check the site pics and film clip. I have helped a friend install on an 8N with the biggest pipe loader I've seen and it still turns with one hand. Good luck

Force America 1-888-449-0358. (hydraulics parts and components)

www.forceamerica.com

They have complete kits for the 1600 series olivers, but I'm sure they could set you up for your 550.

They did not have a US distributor when I checked with them. Most of the kits that they had looked to be for FORD or Massey Fergusons. They looked like a reasonable unit --- however without a parts or distribution network a good deal could go bad quick!

Buyer Beware
