OT More about Chevy pickup

Thanks for the advice on previous post. Another question. How will the gas mileage with the 8100 and 3.73 rear compare to the 6000 engine with a 4.10 rear? Thanks again.

I did own a 1998 1500 with the 5700, 5 spd. manual, and 3.73 rear. It would average 16-17 m.p.g. I now own a 2001 3500 dually with the 8100, 6 spd.manual, and 4.10 rear. It will get 10-12 m.p.g. empty, 8-10 heavily loaded pulling a gooseneck trailer. Both of these trucks are 4 wheel drive. I think the 4.10 rear is what kills the fuel mileage. Don't know if this answers your question, but it should help.

I have been trying to order a 2500HD with the 8100 and the 6 spd. manual since september. How were you able to get yours?
