I have a JD 185 with a 17hp kawasaki engine. After the engine is warmed up, it starts to lobe more and more until it finally dies. This is at full speed or at idle speed. After the engine cools, it starts fine. I've checked the gas and clean the carb. Any suggestions?

It may be a bad head gasket or a warped cylinder head. All related to an engine warming up.

Same problem(s); Had fixed a couple times-by Deere techs, but problem, keeps coming back, usually @ end of season. This year noticed that seems to be running on left cylinder only, (can remove R plug wire & keeps running, but other way no run at all. However, getting voltage out

Darin. I have an original operators manual on the John Deere 170-175 and 180-185 that may be of some value to you. Robert.
