I bought a maxxon Cb radio yesterday to put in my truck so mty dad will quit using the cell phones to talk to me while we"re hauling tractors to shows. I figure it doesn't really have to have a long range so this one should be fine. Problem is when i opened the box to read the instructions there are none. Mow I have the red (power) and black(ground) wires figured out but what is the orange one for? Any ideas? It does have a digital channel indicator would it be for that and where does it hook into?

Thanks!!

Connect the ORANGE wire to your battery's positive terminal. This connection provides last channel memory feature.

BLACK wire is for ground.

RED wire is for switched acc. connection that turns on and off with your ignition

It may be an input for lights. Hook up the red and black to see what works. Then if its fused, hook the orange to power and see what else comes on.

That orange wire would not be for the channel idicator. That should be powered by the red wire. Does the orange wire have a fuse inline?

Worst case scenerio, call you nearest Radio Shack, and ask them to look it up for you. They should be able to get you a copy of the owner's manual, or at least direct you as to how to get one.

Yes it does have an inline fuse. I remember on older radios the orange wire wa for a power antenna but I don't think this applies for a CB. If i can't figure it out I'll call radio Shack and ask as I am sure they know. Thanks for the info!

Had one once, think I still got the instructions somewhere. The orange fused wire is a constant hot. Can be spliced into any where that is hot even when the key is off. If you want to use the radio when the truck is off, hook the red and orange together. Only thing is you have to remember to turn the radio off seperate from the vehichle. Forgot a couple of times myself and had to get a jump. Kinda embarrasing!
