I am looking to trade-in my Ford 950 NF for something of similar size that will handle a front end loader. The 950 has been a good tractor but the lack of parts availabilty, no live PTO and the fact that I am tired of plowing snow backwards is driving to get more a modern tractor. Recommendations? Farm or industrial models? I looked at an AC5040 and Ford 4000Ind, but want some feedback and model recommendations.

I recently purchased a 1975 MF30 Industrial. It seems to work pretty good and has lots of power for pushing snow. It has 1685 actual on the tach, but needs a bit of paint.

I got a mf 294-4 1981. Kind of and odd ball here in central IL but for a used loader tractor it's pretty good. I hear there are a lot of them up in Canada closer to you. Landini built, has a decidated pump for loader. It met my requirements of cheap and 4wd.

That is a pretty open ended question.....New or used? Any brand prefrences? I'd say look for something heavy and with some type of shuttle shift. There are many choices out there. The industrials should give you more lift, and the pure industrials will give you a stronger axle and hydraulics. But often the industrials were beat to death years ago..... .

Since I don't have the $$$ for new and can't justify new for my limited use; snowplowing, some land plowing (3pt, 2btm plow) and bush hog on 12 acres, I am looking for a used tractor loader. I have the same concern with industrial models - they seem to be beat up when they hit the used market.

How far upstate and are you Southeast of lake Ontario? If so, get four wheel. I got a massey 245 with a 55 gallon drum of concrete on the back blade. I still spin with a full bucket. Double "O" ring chains too.

A bit south of Syracuse, 130"+ of the white stuff so far. Yup, FWD would certainly be preferred. I had an Ford 850 WF with a loader years ago, even with the tires filled a full load was often to much for it to handle in less than ideal conditions. The Kubotas, Yanmars and other light imported jobs all seem to come in FWD, but how reliable are they?

A 300 Farmall (rowcrop) with powersteering and fasthitch and a lightweight all hyd loader makes a wonderful rig, good power and weight/balance

You could always get a wide front end and loader for what you have. But if thats not an option I say something like a ford 5000 or maybe even and oliver 770 or the like
