O-Kay!, I know this are stupid questions but here goes.How does the flow control knob and the selector valve work .I cant get them to turn either direction or pull in or out?

I have a 75 5000 seldom use the selector if I remember it pulls out to turn off the hitch. The flow knob controls the speed of the hydralics. It turns like 3/4 around stop to stop if I remember right I leave it full open most of the time hope this helps.
