Has anyone heard of a farmhand ranchand tractor? I saw one in a scrapyard in South Dakota once. They are an oddball machine.

I have an advertising brochure from Farmhand. It shows the "Ranch Hand". Here is what Farmhand had to say about it---"For farmers and ranchers who have many varied material handling needs, the Ranch Hand may be the loader they need. This self-propelled loader has unexcelled comfort. Optional air-conditioning keeps you cool while sweeping and stacking large amounts of hay in the summer. Optional heater keeps you warm while winter feeding loose hay, feeding a tub grinder or scooping snow. Sweep hay up to 15 MPH, lift 3500 lbs. up to 21 feet high. Or use the Ranch Hand for feeding hay, handling snow, manure, bales and many other materials." It was front wheel drive, with power steering. It was powered by a GMC V-6 gas burner with a four speed transmission with a 2-speed axle. Sorry, I don't have a scanner so you can see the entire ad. It has a nice color photo.

Thanks to all. The one I saw was at Dave Johnson's salvage yard. It had a sereal number plate saying it was built by farmhand.

I did some digging, Farmhand did make a a sort of reversed truck with a f-10 loader on it ,it had a cab, small tractor tires on front, powered by a v-6 GMC gas engine, this was in early 70s

BIll,

Do you have a picture of that thing? As with most farm machinery, it had to have been 'farmer inspired'.

Thanks,

Allan

Hi Jim,

Very common out in this country to see a Farmhand mounted on a reversed truck chasis with just the hood sheet metal remaining.

I don't think Farmhand ever made a tractor.

Allan

Our FFA chapter built one in the Vo-Ag shop and sold it to make money for the Kansas City convention trip in 1965.
