IH 444 With a Loader--Front Pump Required???

I would like to put a loader on an IH 444 and have been told that the hydraulic pressure produced by the tractor is not sufficient to run power steering three point etc, and a loader. Advice I've been given is that I should mount a front pump to run the loader.

Anyone have any experience with loaders or the hydrualics on an IH 444. Thanks.

We have an IH2000 loader on our 424 diesel and it runs off a pump mounted fwd. of the radiator. In the manual for the loader it shows the same loader running off of two hoses coming out from under the seat with no loss of efficiency listed. There is mention made of not using the 3pt and the loader at the same time. It does show a special kit of hdwe. necessary to raise the seat, replace the plate under the seat with a new one with the two hose hook-ups and the rest of the plumbing. It looks like the loader will require a lot more Hytran than the tractor by itself. Ours has its own reservoir and takes about 10 gallons. Hope that helps.

I have an IH2444 ( industrial 444 ) with a 2050 loader. It has the front mounte pump. If you put a fromt pump on it that uses the tranny as the sump you will need to put in about 15 gal of HYtran ( or equiv) . My manual says if equipped with front pump to add hyd fluid until it is 6 inches bleow the top level of the transmission case, at the fill hole/vent beside gearshift. My friend had the same tractor without the front pump with a trip loader on it, Works fine, won't lift quite as much as mine and a bit slower, but ok. And yes the power steering works fine with the loader on it. There is a priority flow devider for the poower steering before it gets to the aux valves.

If you were using the loader for industrial purposes were you needed extreame capicity I would say go with the front pump. However If you need extreme capaicity and speed you have the wrong tractor anyway, get a industrial with a heavier front axle. I have a 354 with a loader on it and it is fast enough for me using the tractor hydraulics. Power steering on these tractors is not effected even while moving the loader controls around while turning the wheel. The 3 point is not a problem either, you won't be using it while using the loader either, its one or the other but never both together.

I hope to use the loader to move a round bale of hay at the same time I use the three point hitch to move a bale. Am I expecting too much from the tractor? I really do not want to get a bigger tractor if I can avoid it because I like the size of the 444 for mowing and other general work.

I have the same set up on my 424 and it has plenty of power for both the loader and the blade just make sure you plumb it right and remember you can only use one valve at a time .
