The other morning in -5 degree weather I started my tractor and went to raise the 3pt blade and nothing happened. After 30 seconds of attempting to raise it, I noticed that hydraulic pump was smoking hot and brownish fluid was oozing out the hyd reservoir breather cap. I quickly shut off the tractor. What could have happened? Do you think I ruined my hydraulics?
This is a small 30hp Belarus tractor. Thanks for any help

i sure don't want to bad mouth any one for the way they do things BUT people spend GOOD money for tractors and none are cheap and then just park them out side in all kinds of weather when for 150.00 bucks you can get one of them tarp sheds and in 2hr. have it under cover. sorry to say if you did burn up the pump it's going to be more then 150 .please don't think i'm picking on you but thats just my fealings

i bet this tractor sits out side? and you have it froze up some place in the hyd. syt. from water sitting in the pickup for the hyd.pump or filters are full of water that is frozen

PUMP? You had a no flow situation and probably caused the pump vanes to get darn hot. If you are in a hurry to run and work the rig try this. Double drape the whole tractor with a double cover of the cheap blue tarps. Tuck and clamp the cover and secure it to the ground with bricks, concrete block, sand bags or whatever is handy. Borrow or rent a 120,000 BTU Salamander heater or equivalent(kerosene type). Direct heat blast in a safe manner into the tractor canopy for
at least 6 to 8 hours. Operate the loader thru
a couple cycles and replace the hydraulic filter cartridge or spin-on if accessible. If your in no rush just wait for that next run of 35 degree weather or warmer. Good Luck.

Marlow is probably right 2 things you can try 1 get it inside some where wheres its at least 35 degrees or hotter, or wait for warm weather or if you can't get it inside get a couple of traps and a couple heat lamps/ small heaters and get it warm enough to change the filters and fluid and hope you didn't smoke your pump to badly. Hope this helps get you going again

Say a prayer and find it a warm place to sit. Let's hope you haven't hurt the pump.
