Probably more tired iron, in modern style. This baler was offered in T & W, the 'large' small bale, 16x18(I believe). This was NH's first non-
vertical plunger big baler, replacing the Super 77. Though better than anything of it's era, '57-
'62(?), it's junque compared to a 282 NH. The
knotters rarely let twine balls change, the PTO
clutch performed poorly with a tractor having a PTO brake. The pick up assembly was weak, bars
broke, plunger roller bearings failed. None of
these problems occurred with 30 years of use on
a 282. The 78 was traded after 9 years, avoid it.
