I am restoring a Hyster QN-20 Fork Lift truck that has a VF4 Wisconsin motor, with a distributor mounted where the governor usually goes. The distributor cam has lobes at 90 , 135, 90 , and 45 degrees. This is the only VF4 that I've ever seen with an odd dist. cam. I checked the pistons and they are at TDC when the lobe passes the points. Where can I find an irregular distributor cap. An 8 cylinder cap would work, and I would just use the 4 holes that I needed. The Dist.# maybe 1ADA 036A K. Thanks for the help.

I bought the ignition parts from NAPA for my VH-4D Wisconsin in a 610 Bobcat.

IF I recall correctly, they DID NOT use a distributor cap with irregularly spaced nipples.

What was used was a distributor rotor with an unusually wide outer terminal that allowed the spark to get to the terminal (or nipple) in the cap even though the centerline of the rotor was not not directly aligned with the terminal centerline.

Email me direct, if you want. I can look up a Standard Ignition or NAPA part number for the rotor you need.

There is a specific way the distributor must be timed to the engine, and you indicate you have checked that out. I have an original Wisconsin manual (if I can find it) that shows the correct installation position for the distributor.

Hello Robert, There are several possible sources. Try Rock Creek Consulting (wisconsinengines@earthlink.net) He has a lot of used wisconsin parts. Try Ebay. Enter Wisconsin Engine. You might try Bill Lopoulos (www.magnetoparts.com. I'm not sure if he deal with what you need. Lastly, try the factory. Their number is 800-922-5632 Ext #6. Ask for Hike. Hope this helps.
Joe
