I have a 1967 Farmall 706 diesel. I had to replace the batteries. After replacing the batteries I went to turn the key and nothing lit up and the engine does not even click. There is now no electricity when you turn the key. I have ensured that the batteries were hooked up correctly. Does anybody have any idea what the problem may be?

If you have juice at the batterys the the problem is more then likey the orange wire of about 12 ga. on the selonoide on the top of the starter , when you were wiggeling the main battery lead to the left ft. post of the battery it may have lossened the nut on the stud as this wire feeds the main system to the dash and is on top of or on the bottom of the main battey cable. Take it off and clean and retighten but don't get carried away as if you thighten it to much it can crack the cover .

tod, this might sound dumb but make sure the batteries are not dry. most batteries come filled but not always.if they are not take them back where you got them and they will fill them with acid. joe

Using a test light, ground 1 lead to the tractor chassis, and touch the probe to the large stud on the starter solenoid that the (+) battery able is connected to. No light... dead battery(s), bad cable... could be where cable connects to one of the battery posts, or one of the cables could be corroded inside one of the end terminals. It shouldn't take too long with the test light find which connection is bad.

Test light lights... you have a problem with the large wires that share the solenoid stud with the battery cable, and go back over the transmission housing, and up to the key and light switches.
