I have replaced a fuel filter on a MF 205 and am not sure how to bleed the fuel system. Any suggestions?

Why couldn't you just hitch another tractor on it and pull it till it starts and not worry about bleeding the system if you don't know how? I'm not a diesel mechanic, so, someone will probably tell me some reason not to do this. Looks like it could do till you buy a manual. Oh...you don't have another tractor?...Hint...it's Christmas time! Fred OH

The injection pump don't like air.

CH...it's understandable that the injection pump don't like air...but does that mean that you can't pull one to start it?...or will it ruin something? Can you or someone else comment on this? Fred OH

John is this a MF205 compact built in the late 1970s & 1980s or is one of the regular size MF205 Industrial built in the 1960. The fuel system bleeds different on them

Big Dean:
This 205 is one of the small, compact models from the 70's - a two cylinder.

Well if you filled the filter with diesel before you put it on you shouldn't need to bleed it, but if the didn't there should be a pipe plug at the top of the filter houseing that you pull out and work the primer pump till fuel flows out of it. I don't know your tractor but most systems are close to the same

Those are contary to get started after changing the filters even after priming the filters. That CAV injection pump has two bleed screws, open them and use your hand operated supply pump at the fuel bowl. Move the lever up and down untill you get a solid stream of fuel coming out. If it still won't start, pull it and use a high gear so the wheels won't slide when you let out the clutch. If it still don't start take the fuel lines off at the inj. spray nossels. (Take care here as high pressure fuel can penitrate your skin) I have started them with all the lines off and holding one to the inj. spray nossel while turning the engine. It will start and run on one cylinder, then bleed the others. That was the only way to go with one has multipower.
