i do understand: some people have to take time off work etc and your dealing with people that cant buy the front tires! so it gets rid of the nuisance people that want to trade a boat for it etc, at least up in this area

I'd have to agree with you, that is almost an insulting statement. It would be like you asking him if he was serious about selling it, I'm sure he wouldn't like it. Hopefully he doesn't think that too many guys get their kicks out of just kicking tires on the phone. Another one that irks me is the comment "no test pilots". Surely someone is going to want to drive whatever is being sold before the purchase. Does wanting to drive it make you a test pilot? Good topic to talk about for sure.

Yeah and they don't include the price. How can I tell if I am a serious buyer if I don't know the price?

I can understand what Roger is saying, but people who just don't grasp the point to begin with will not grasp 'serious inquiries only' anyhow - and the statement is pretty much an insult to people looking to buy.

I wish sellers would be serious about selling. They can show their smarts by always listing a location, an easy way to contact them, and much bonus points for a price.

To me "Serious Buyers Only" means they are asking much more then the item is worth and only people willing to pay a ridiculously high price should waste their time calling. This point doubles when no asking price is listed.

As a buyer and seller, I can see both sides of
this. As a seller I have been tempted many times
to add "seriuos inquires only". 90% of the calls I
get on a for sale item are people trying to figure
out how much their item is worth. Or worse, trying
to sell you something you are trying to sell. I
had a tractor for sale one time and a man called
and wanted to sell me the same tractor with a
plow. I pointed out, if I wanted a tractor like
this, I wouldn't be selling this one. I have never
posted SEO, but can see why people do.

Yes, I see those type of ads all the time. "Serious inquiries only" If they are so worried that someone is going to bother them I'll just rest their fears. I figure they are asking too much for whatever it is and they realy don't want to sell it anyway.
