Got my Gallion road roller home today and hadit running already the engine purrs like a kitten even if it only drives one way and has NO brakesbut I think I did good for spending only $120 for it. I guess its a shame that it will be parts soon,Can't see any reason to keep it like it is but it may have some good parts so I can get my Cletrac HG up and runnig soon. Hope you guy find things like this also for a cheap $$$$

It's too bad that you need its starter. For that kind of dough maybe you could use/rent it for what it was designed.
If not that, what uses could we come up with for the various components?
How about using the roller for an outdoor wood burner?
good luck

The guy that hauled it wants to use the big drum/drive drum to make a sheeps foot roller. Not a bad trade for the haul. From what Isee on the number plates it was probablt Mil. surplus, I do plan to keep al that even if I cut it up for parts.

I grew up not too far from Galion, Bucyrus, and Marion Ohio. As a kid, I'd see all those rollers, graders, cranes, etc, sitting at the factories waiting for shipment. I couldn't believe how so much heavy iron and steel could be assembled at one spot. Couple of years later, I got a glimpse of the Lima Locomotive Works at the very end of the steam days. Now that was unbelievable!
