I ahve a ford 621 with sherman power digger 54f100 backhoe and loader. I removed a couple of hydraulic hoses and replaced them. How do i get air out of the system. I am unable to use the bucket now.

Thanks to all. All of you were correct. I cant believe that i put the hoses on wrong. Btw i had a big 5 gal pail of what i thought was hyd oil but was gear oil. Yes, i did manage to get about a pint in the system before i realized it.

With most systems you just cycle the levers several times- might be a jerky action at first, but as the air is purged, operation will become normal. If that doesn't work, it is possible that the hoses are not replaced to the proper ports. Easy to happen if you take off three or more hoses.

I agree ,but one other thing if you remove lots of hoses at once you will lose more fluid than you might think. This can drain your resovior fast and it can need refilling a couple of times before things work good.

Yup, that too- with hydraulic problems, always check fluid levels first, make sure the filter is clean. Can't move a cylinder if the oil is low or the filter is plugged. In real estate, it's location 3x, in mechanical things, it's basics, 3X.
