I am looking to supplement my 8n. I am looking for a machine in the 5 to 6000 dollar range. It won't be used for farming but for woods and ground maintenence. Probably 40 to 60 hp live PTO and hyd. I need a FEL so I want a tractor with a robust front end. The smaller the better as for physial size. I know nothing about diesals so I am a bit leary of them. Can you help point me at some good machines? Also what is high hours? How many hours per year of age is average?

A tractor that is half taken care of and run all day in the feild will run 10,000 hrs before overhaul. One thats sees short runs and light use may be shelled out at 2500 hrs. I think it boils down to actual number of times started. For woods work you want to stick to a low utility type tractor. My cousin always used Fergusons in the woods. He had a light loader on one and even though they are built light he was careful and never broke them. Don't let diesel scare you. If they are any good they will run for years with very little tinkering.
