I have a Hobart 225Amp welder powered by a 4 cylinder Hercules motor. Does anyone know whether it runs a 6 or 12 volt battery? Any information about this "old" welder would be greatly appreciated. I have a picture posted in the gallery.

Check the ignition coil and/or the generator. It should be marked 6v or 12v. The Hercules on my 1950's JD combine is 6v. as was most of the equipment of that era. HTH.

If you search hercules motor on google I think it'll list a chris craft www site. This site has the manuals online for Herucles 4 cylinder motors. I downloaded the manuals a while ago when someone was going to give me a welder with a Hercules 4 cyinder in it. If I find the link I'll post it.

I have a general electric welder with a hercules IXB3 engine. It has no starter or starter ring gear. Just wondering if you might have parts

My welder does have a starter on it. Im not looking to sell right now. If you need a number off it I could get them for you. Right now I am wondering whether this is a 6 or 12 volt system. I hooked up a 6 volt to it and nothing happened. I can hear something click when I push the start button. The starter doesnt even turn though. Im guessing there is something wrong between the starter switch and starter. Not sure what though.
