I have a Massey Ferguson 202 with a factory front mount hydraulic pump which drives the factory bucket loader. Don't have the GPM/PSI stats at hand, but can get them. Does anyone make (or has anyone ever made) a front-mounted (to the bucket or replace the bucket), hydraulic or pony motor driven snowblower for such a beast?

There are pony engine driven units made for skid loaders and 4wd pickups which mount like pickup plow.I believe they run 30-40hp engines and are cab controlled.Northern Tools used to list one.Should be designs or adaptable for loader mounting.Pricey though, not sure but 4K comes to mind :(

Erskine Mfg. in Erskine Minnesota makes exactly what you are talking about. Give 'em a call. They will have all the correct power requirements for you for various widths and types.

My neighbor has a 6' hyd driven blower on the front loader lift arms of his 70 HP tractor driven by a large pump on the PTO. The lines are an inch or 1 1/4" diameter. It works great and can take the top off drifts easily. His tractor is front wheel assist driven so it can get enough pushing power. He has a 100 gallon tank on the back to store and cool the hydraulic fluid and give added weight.

Not near enough gpm. Skid steers have them available, but a skid steer uses the whole engine output to run a gigantic hyd pump. A whole lot of enegy loss going from an engine shaft to an oil pump to oil lines and back to an oil pump again. But the best option for a skid steer which already has all that flow & pressure available.

Just not practical to use hyd to run a blower on a tractor when you already have that useful pto on it....

Been thinking the same thing. I see them mounted on small skid loaders and don't think they would have much more horse power or hydraulics but I could be wrong about that. They may not be as wide as you would need and the wider they are the more power it would take. I have a pump mounted to the pto to run the backhoe so I think I could get away with it. But it is sure a lot nicer to plow in the pickup with the heater on. Just finished that and will have to do it again in the morning. Let us know if you end up doing it.

Thanks Don

That pump doesn't have enough flow or pressure to run a snowblower. If you want a hydraulic drive it would require a pto driven hydrostatic pump,a large reservoir and some sort of cooler. You are driving your pump with a 1/2 in. shaft and it won't take the strain. As for engine driven,it would require at minimum 30-40hp depending on the size of the blower you have. You add this weight to the weight of the blower on the front of your tractor and I don't think you would be able to make it move without some serious counterweighting. Kinda asking too much out of a 40 hp tractor.
