I recently purchased a John Deere 950 Diesel, 2WD, and am trying to locate a manual. In the meantime, I was wondering what the valve handle and pet-cock like roll-pin lever are under the seat. The value handle has "open" and "close" arrows and is about 3" in dia. The roll-pin looking lever has red/orange plastic barrel over it and is about 1.25" long and moves about 180 degrees. I'm assuming this may have to do with the rear-end hydraulics and/or flow speed, but not sure... Any help out there?
thx,
Cary Whitty

Cary,

Send me your e-mail address or a fax # and I'll copy some pages out of my manual for you.

KEG

P.S. You got a great tractor. Been running mine hard for about a year now and it works great. that 3 cyl. Yanmar is strong and uses little fuel.

You can still get manuals from John Deere for these tractors. They are actually Yanmar's repainted green with a John Deere Name.

Its the rate of drop valve for the 3pt hitch. Set it so your rear implement drops at a controlled rate. can be changed for different weight implements,or closed completely to keep the hitch in any position.
