we are still using the big c-band dish for tv watching. i'm sure we will have to give it up soon, all the analog channels are going bye bye. is anyone using the digital receiver with the c-band dish, if so what is your experience with it. going digital may extend the life of c-band for a while. but it seems expensive. is it better to give up and go the small dish route. we get great reception now and the cost is very resonable.you may mention tractor in your reply to make the post legal if you want. thanks for any replies

I wouldn't get rid of that big dish just yet...buddy of mine says that putting the LNB from the little dish on a bigger one-you won't have any rain delays. Somewhere in a magazine they had worked it out as to the focal point...and also the signal on the little one isn't centered like the big one-it is below center. The LNB/feedhorns are for sale at larger flea markets as someone pointed out to me. Anyone else knowledgeable about this subject? Also seen a demonstration on the small dish where they used another bird (I think) and received signals for south of the border in spanish...apparently for the latinos. Fred OH

I can tell you this , I have had the big dish, fancy boards and all,and now have the small dish. The expence of changing to the big dish digital isnt worth it considering now you can have the dss installed for free in three rooms. I have never lost my sugnal in a regular rain shower and what I would consider to be heavy rain but have lost it in storms. The key to the dss is to have a clear veiw of the sky,no obstructions at all. When I want to change channels I push the buttons and whamo Im there,no waiting for the dish to move into postion.I like my small one better!

I'd try askin' in the Kontry Life forum at the bottom of the forum list. There's a lot of folks down there who don't have much interest in tractors.

Tractor... We have both the C-band 10'dish and the small digital and I by far prefer the C-band. Like you I feel it is only a matter of time before we will have to give it up. The thing I have found oddly enough is that most programs on the small dish are 15 to 20 seconds the same program and station on the C-band. Seems The small dishes get the signal from big dishes and retransmit. My biggest gripe/complaint with the small dish is that you LOSE the signal in a heavy rain or snow where my big dish will not miss a thing. I even think the picture and sound quality is some better as well. I know I sure am gonna miss it when its gone but I will be one of the last to give it up.
