Thinking about buying a FArmall A with factory installed bucket loader. 1. approximately how much weight can be carried in bucket? Can power steering be installed on this machine? How about a 3 point hitch installation on this? Thank you for the feed back.. Happy motoring.

Your lift capacity will be in the 250-400 lb range. This is due mainly to one lift cylinder, and not alot of strength in the front end of the tractor. It was designed as a manure loader, not a utility type loader for digging dirt, moving bales etc. I do not believe power steering is available,or ever was . 3 pt hitch can be installed,it would be an aftermarket kit,or something that can be made up from over the counter parts, once again not alot of lift capacity, but would lift a scraper blade,or possibly a small bushhog if you can make the offset PTO work with the mower. Some one will say I'm wrong, but I would not recomend this as a full time loader tractor,it was designed for cultivating, sidedressing and other truck patch type work.

Mike, I will agree with you, a Farmall A was not designed to be a full time loader tractor.

I agree, but darn sure would have loved to have had one when I still had my A. Just be handy as a pocket on a shirt for moving little stuff and saving the old back.
