Can anyone tell me the back ground of the 2745 ?
Pros and cons of this tractor. Is there any thing wrong with the perkins diesel? How about the shift and transmission? reliablity, horse power, anything you know and would pass on would be appreciated.

I have one of those old beasts, have had it since new in 78 0r 79. While it has not been popular among many, my old girl has been quite reliable. I have heard some horror stories but can not say I have had the same problems. With more than 5000hrs on it, there has been no major repairs. It will not lug like inline 6diesels the RPM's have to be up, the V8 Perkins tops out at about 2850 or so. I usually try to gear my so I am running about 1800 to 2100 rpm. The V8 perkins sure does roar at full throttle.

The 2745 seemed to miss some of the problems that the 28xx series had. If it has a 24 speed powershift-RUN, 8 speed had fewer breakdowns. Rear axle bearings/housings would break. If later than 1982?? the 24 speed was "updated". This was not a lugging tractor, power was in the higher RPM bands~~2000. Anything over $5000 is questionable. Shop carefully.

the 2745 was a updated version of the 1155 MF.at 140 hp it is an impressive piece of equipment.I believe the trans and shift are good units, however,if the engine was a reliable item,I doubt MF would have pulled it from production. They are an expensive engine to overhaul.I also believe they have a tendency to crack heads.
