HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO CHANGE OIL IN 1958 601 FORD TRACTOR AND WHAT TYPE AND WEIGHT SHOULD I USE?

Twice a year is O.K. if you are doing light work like a garden. If you are doing and hard work every 40 hours is good. Also always, always, always change the filter every oil change. As for viscosity of oil I like to use 10W30. If the engine uses oil you might want to switch to a diesel oil like say 15W40 or add some Lucas oil thickener.

change it twice a year, spring and fall. Use the same oil you put in your car & truck. Can't go too far wrong. Todays oils are much better than they were 50 years ago.

Yes, twice a year is fine....unless you work it a lot as in farming, then you might want to change it more often.
