I have a farmall cub
runs on 2cyl. Sometimes 4 cyl.
all new plugs all fire. Firing order correct.
carb good.#3 exhaust valve was stuck open. Freed valve.Once in a while it will run good.Then back to skipping.Pulled #3 and 4 plug wire it didnt make any diff. any ideas?

You may want to pull the distributor and check the points gap on each lobe. We had a 33o Utl that did that on #4 and the lobes were not even we switched a cub distributor in and its been going on all four for five years now.

Sounds like the valve is still sticking from time to time, remove the cover and manually work the valve with something while spraying with penetrating oil.

You may want to pull the distributor and check the points on all four lobes. We have found wear on one or more that affect the firing. One sign has been it runs fine with new plugs for a bit then goes sour.

replace the dist. cap, I had one like that it ran on all but # 4 it was a bad cap

I agree, I had one like that once. Cap looked clean and saw no signs of arcing, but I changed the cap and it purred on all 4.

Of course, if you park it next to some John Deeres, maybe it thinks it is supposed to only run on 2 cylinders.
