Any one out there had the experience of removing the T/A unit from the 300/400 series Farmalls and blocking it off permanately?? I now have the thing split and think it to costly to replace for no more use than it will get.I tried to place an add for a used eliminator Kit but cant get it to post .I see bates has new kits for 350. Any help Thanks John

Have you tried disassembling the TA and replacing the worn parts or just replacing the complete assemly with a rebuilt one? An old friend of mine (now deceased) was an IH mechanic for about thirty years and used to repair TA's all the time. He did a lot of MTA's,400,450, and 560's and sometimes it did not take a lot to fix one if it hadn't been let go too long. Have you tried the salvage yards? Some times they will get one with a good TA.

Tnx for the input Ron-- yes I thought of a rebuild until I got into it. All splined parts were bad -overrun clutch was shot --planetary bearings gone as well as their shafts-- called Bates and ordered a TA eliminator. -now wont worry abt going down the steep places . Tnx

I believe what the Nebraska test results show. It's an even playing field where everybody has to play by the same rules. The 6603 is no utilty tractor. The p.o.s 5000 series are over grown garden tractors however. Pass them by and go right to a 6003, 6015 or 6020 series.
