Ripped off?

I think I’ve been ripped off. I was attempting to buy two tractors from an individual and sent half the money back in July of this year. He promised a bill of sale, which I never got. Pictures of the tractors, which, I never got and regular emails keeping me updated on shipping status, never got those either. Now, he will not reply to any emails or phone calls. I kept a record of all or previous correspondence in the event something like this happened, just to be on the safe side.

My question is, has anybody out there ever experienced a similar situation? I’d love to here from you guys with any suggestion on how I might resolve this issue.

Thanks;
Jeff

If you go to the "auctions" part of the website and look at the tractors part, at the bottom of the page is a buttomn you can click on that is called "safe transactions". It details use of a third party escrow service (financial institution) who holds the money until delivery. It also ensures the seller does not get bogus cashiers checks, etc. Yes, you pay for this service and protection but it may be worth it if the seller is unknown to you and/or the amount is substantial. If the seller is aprehensive about using same and wants their money up front before shipment, I would wonder why.

You must be kidding...You sent HALF THE MONEY to "SOMEONE" you never heard of, for "SOMETHING" you've NEVER SEEN??? The guy must have been laughing all the way to the bank!

Thanks Fellows,

Some good advise. You know, I want to give this individual every opportunity to make this right but I assure all of you I'll announce on this and every tractor/equipment forum I can find, that this person is a THIEF and LIAR.

Thanks Again

Jeff

Hi, I was ripped off on an ebay deal. I reported it to ebay and never got anything. I reported it to the National Fraud Information center at something like www.nationalfraud.org. and gave them all of the evidence that I could gather. About five months later I got a letter from my state attorney general's office stating that they were looking into it. I thought yeah right. Guess what, 45 days later I got another letter from the AG's office and inside was a letter and a check for the full amount stating that Mr. XYZ POS had made full restition. Miracles do happen.

If he's not to far away and the money was a substantial sum, you might get two or three of your 250lb, 6' friends and pay him a visit. Be sure to have a trailer and the balance of the price he agreed to. Otherwise file a complaint with the Postal Inspector, then the Sheriff where he lives.

There was a guy around here about 15 years ago who sold the same late model 4020 for good money to three different people. He would then hustle all over the southwest trying to find three tractors as he didn't even own the first one outright. He would do this on tractors as well as machinery. Don't know where he went and I don't miss him.

Did you send a US Postal Money Order in the Mail? If you did you can contact the Post Office for Mail Fraud. You should have got something in writing first befor you sent the money to him along with pictures of what you were buying. Mark H.

Contact him and let him know that your brother, a state trooper, has decided that he may want one of the tractrs but needs to look at it first, all you need to do is too set a time and date.. See if this wil get you a response..

Best of Luck
