I cant ship it UPS as its to heavy and its in a wood crate.
Any ideas?

I tried to get an ATV hauled back from Florida (bought on Ebay) to Kentucky. Best rate I found was $300 plus I had to have it 'commercial crated'. That was going to be another $200+.

I shopped around and found a local boy going that way. Paid him the $300 to back haul it for me. He was tickled at the $$. Not sure how many miles it is but your best bet may be the back of your truck and a Sat road trip.

Kelly,
I have been using R&L carriers for larger stuff. They have a terminal down in Lakeville. Its open 24 hours a day. I always drop off and pick up at the terminal. You can get price quotes from their web site, I found that if I call them they will help you determine the class. If you tell them its scap iron they put it in the lowest class

Do you have any friends that work in traffic? I do the shippiing where I work and they let me use their account. I can use the common carriers and use the company's 74% discount on freight. It makes things much easier.

You may be able to ship it by rail if you have an Amtrac near by. We shipped all our personal houshold goods MN to WA that way. Very reasonable but you must drop off and pickup at the depot.

Quick-tach for a No.5 mower at nearly 200 pounds?
Did you line the crate with lead?
Is your scale wrong? Are you shipping more than the quick tach?
Can you knock it down into smaller pieces and ship in 2 boxes?
An item I checked recently was cheaper to ship in two boxes than all in one box.

Have fun!

Someone told me that they ship car hoods and stuff on Greyhound Bus in the belly of the bus. Might be worth a call to them ?

Check the rates from a LTL carrier such as Old Dominion
Roadway
Watkins
These people will not haul house to house but you can get it hauled to there terminal and pick it up.
