I have a 2500 Ram diesel and an 18ft Hudson Trailer with brakes and good lights. I am venturing to haul a Oliver 550 with a loader from Wisconsin to Virginia. What advice would any of you offer? I tow my MF231S often within a 400 mile distance but this will be a new experience. Any idea of the weight of the Oliver 550 with loader? What about highway scales? thanks for your time. Allen

I take my tractors to several shows and have not had any trouble with the scales. I have hauled 3 tractors at one time from New Jersy and 2 at a time to North Carolina several times. Also 1 to Portland and 2 back at the same time. I have a 24' goose neck and a 350 Ford with a 460 motor. Uses a lot of gas but gets me there. I just go right on by the scales as if they are not there. I know they say if you are over 10,000lbs. you should stop but they are after people that are comercial or over weight. If you look like you are okay they don't bother you. If you have a sign on the truck you better stop because they will think it is a work truck. I need to get a diesel soon so the trips will be a little easier but I keep finding tractors to spend the money on. Be safe and don't get in a big hurry and you will be okay.

Your best bet would be to avoid the scales if at all possible. It makes no difference if you are a farmer,or even if you look like one, most states require anything over 6,000# to cross the scales, some states require all pickups with trailers to weigh.

you souldn't need to stop at the scales your are a farmer or at least you would look like one you should also have no troulde hauling that as long as you lock it down well
