I am pretty sure my coil is kaput. I have replaced all other ignition components and no spark. I think it is the original Delco-Remy coil! Can I replace it with a universal 6 volt coil? Please advise. Thanks for any help. Lance in Brenham, TX.

Wire the coil with the positive post to the points to match the positive ground connection at the battery. More voltage at the coil secondat and it's easier for the spark to jump from the sparkplug center tip to the outer electrode than vice versa.

Yep, any 6 volt coil will work. I replaced mine with an aftermarket one and have had no problems...
