Possible Scam

If it to good to be true it probable is!

I was bidding on a tractor on E-bay and I didn’t win. No big deal. But over the next couple of days I have received numerous e-mails from people overseas who what to sell me the same type of tractor. The tractor I was bidding on was a JD 4300 4x4, with front end loader and trailer which sold for $17,000.00. These guys were offering me the same thing AND; post hole digger, mower deck, box blade and free shipping from (France, or Spain or Italy) for 6,600.00 US.

OK what is the scam here? You send them money and they never send your tractor? There some type of heavy tariff imposed by the US. I can’t believe everyone overseas is trying to sell their tractor, because they given up farming, or their child is sick or etc.

Thanx!

Always have a "junk" email account. Try yahoo.com for a free email account. I use it for all unknown correspondance and whenever a website asks for an email as data.

That's were I recieved 100 spams a day. My personal email stays clear.

Works for me!

I had something kind of similar recently. I was selling a tractor and a woman from the UK wanted to have an agent contact me but wanted my phone number and wanted to pay me full asking price. I just told her that I was not interested in dealing with her and took less money. It sounded too risky for me.

Be very caeful, Norm. Internet and foreign scams can be disasterous. Sometimes they will want your checking account number and details. What they will then do is drain your bank account, leaving you no recourse at all. They can do this if you write them a check also.
Be aware that a debit card purchase can not be challenged or reversed in any case. We found this out purchasing the Shop Rider for my Mom. The outfit was in Florida, made promises of shipping immediately. AFter four days and no shipping we were told that if we cancelled the order there would be a 300 dollar fee charged to our debit card. No way out of it.
Also be aware that a charge card purchase made overseas can not be challenged. Most people don't know that.
Like many say. If it looks too good to be true it probably is.
Please don't be taken.
Tom

Absolutely! I am not interested in this route. I like to touch and feel the item before I buy it. But there is E-bay Escrow. This put another person in the mix and when I suggested this to some of these guys, their e-mails stopped.

I would never and have never given my credit card or checking account information to any stranger. Never, Never, Never

Thank You,
Norm

Had the same thing happen when bidding for an ATV. Some ridiculously low priced ATV's, these people claimed to be from Canada.

I wish my e-mail address wasn't made avalible by E-bay. If I need to send a message to the seller, them at that point e-bay could hand out my address but only to the seller.

What happens now is you can review a list of the bidders. Click on any bidder and you can forward any e-mail to that person. I don't think that is right.

I think I'll change my e-mail address on my E-bay account.
