My tractor is currently listed on this website, and I keep getting offers from people in Africa (?) wanting to send me third party checks for some amount over the actual selling amount of the tractor. I also get weird notes wanting to have me invest very large sums of money for interested parties in Africa. This is all obviously a scam! Anyone else get this type of rubbish?

Thanks to all that replied. I guess we all live with this same issue and just live with it by deleting the files as they arrive.

Would YOU ever buy a tractor, without at least seeing it? Do you think anyone would? I recieve 3 or 4 messages a day, like the ones you've got, wanting to send me millions of dollars, to help out some poor billionaire, who's diamond mine was captured by rebels in a "civil war" or some other "line". Just remember the old saying, "anything that sounds too good to be true, probably is". Don't even reply to these e-mails. You'll find yourself in the midst of a mess.

Well I can top everyone, I had a women write with a 100 million dollar estate from her dad and would split it with me, anyway a friend of mine fell for that and when he got the check the FBI got in on it, I guess its being investigated but there is so much of this garbage going on I am sure they can't keep up. I just hope people out there aren't falling for it at least most recently with it being so publicized. Sometimes its just humerous, once in a while I write back and tell them to come get the machine in person and bring American cash.

I get about 30 of these SCAMS a week. We raise purebred Arabian Horses, and I can't count the number of times we have received letters stating that they want to buy a Stallion or Mare we have advertised, but we would have to accept this ridiculous sum of money (3rd party check) and then send them the balance after we deduct what the horse would cost. Of course the horse wouldn't even be able to catch the check once it started to bounce. These people must think Americans are EASY and DUMB.

What I have been doing of late, is waiting until I get 6 or 8 of them, then I forward them on to each other, kind of give them a taste of their own medicine. So dfar none have bounced back, and the amount of junk mail seems to be decreasing a little.

I had a man who claimed to be an african business man offer me $1900 on a $1100 mower. I ask if he would wait until his check cleared and have not heard from him since.

I saw a warning about this in the MTFCA (Model T Ford club) web page and also read somewhere, probably in a recent issue of the Vintage Ford about some guy who lost $$ this way.

Too bad slimballs like that slither their way into decent hobbies like cars and tractors.

The answer to your question is YES! I, too, have a tractor listed on this site. Late last week I received an email from South Africa from a company that only identifed itself as a procurer and shipper of overseas equipment. No company name--only an individual's name that was clumsily described as this company's president in the message text. I was to confirm to this company the receipt of a third party's check and its clearing. They only offered a check for the advertised amount of the tractor. I really would like to know what's up with this stuff and what kind of angle they're working. I smell a skunk in the wood pile! Oh, yes... I've received the money investment emails, too. I'll bet mine's bigger'n yours--I was supposed to receive $25 million!
