I'm looking for a replacement for a plow tire ,does anyone know what size used car or truck tire will fit on my 6.00-16 rim?
Like a 155 R16 or something like that??
Or should I bite the bullet and spend 50 bucks or so on an Implement tire and tube!!
Thanks,
HB

Depending on how the wheel is mounted onto the plow (4-bolt, 5-bolt, or single lock nut), you might consider checking on an automotive salvage for replacement rims for more common tires. The 6.00-16 tires (4-bolt) I have are old and were filled with foam. When they wear out I have some 8-bolt wheels that will hold worn out tires from my pick-up.

An R16 tire like off a 3/4 ton truck will
work.We use them all the time for front tractor
tires,there 10 ply,implement tires are only 6
or 8 ply and don't last.Don't know were your at,but I've got a couple extra in the barn.

If you have a mechanical trip plow, consider is using a tire with good traction on the trip side. I remember sometimes seeing plows with tire chains on the trip wheel to prevent slippage during lift.

Hey Hoosierbuddy, I found a brand new looking pair of 11.00x16 tractor tires for sale in front of a house. I have no use for them but I bet they could be picked up for a song. Interested?

Les, Are they threee or four rib? We go through lots of those 11:00-16 on the front of your baler tractors. Where are you located?

They are three rib and I'm located in New Hampshire. The tires are in Gilmanton, NH. Long way from Kansas.

Any reasonable size will work just remember you will have to reset the levers to level the plow when its tripped too large a tire could make leveling hard Bought a 3-12 once land wheel was a foot taller than furrow tire. what a mess

21585R-16 should work. 24575R-16 should fit the rim but could be too wide if you have any clearance problems. HTH
