I am considering making an offer on the following crawler:
-JD 350
-1968 model(serial # verified)
-6-way blade
-some leakage on cyls but tank and 6-way valve dry
-ROPS
-5-roller w/ rock guards
-straight sheet metal - no dents
-U/C is about 50%
-All gages work except hr. meter
-overall on a 1-10 scale about a 6.5-7

What is this crawler worth? I want to make an offer.
Thanks everyone

Bob : Amazing how that hour meter always seems to not work...I'd be less worried about the gauges working and no dents...How does the engine sound ? Is it a gas or a diesel ? Does it have a winch ? What's the oil look like ? Any water in the oil, or oil in the radiator ? Give us a bit more info & maybe we can help...I just paid $2000 for one (1960 vintage) that a neighbor just offered me $5000 for it. Another neighbor has one that will go for $12,000 if he ever decides to get rid of it...

Thanks, Mike for the reply. The crawler is diesel. The engine, at some point in time I was told, had some work done on it. It sounds strong and seemed to perform under load (dozing). Transmission seems good but hard to tell unless one changes the fluids. The clutches seem decent as it doesn't pull either direction and turns without any reefing on the levers. The radiator is clear of any cross leakage. In deciding what to offer, there is a JD350 for sale at a local track/undercarriage repair shop for $12,950. In checking with the JD dealer, taht particular unit is a 1966 model. The serial number on the one I'm considering dates it as a 1968 model. Can I supply any other stuff that may help?

Bob : Sounds nice, the way you describe it. The only other stuff that would affect sale price would be the optional stuff, like does it have a reverser, a winch, lights (never see too many lights that work), three point hitch (Yep, some of 'em have 'em). The only downside you've mentioned is the 50% undercarriage...it's a few grand to replace chains, sprockets & grousers. Start out with a lowball price like $9,000 & see if you get a nibble (remember the $$$$ to rebuild the undercarriage). Let us know how you do.

Referencing the JD 350 I spoke of in earlier E-mails, I bought the crawler for $4,500...no winch, no 3-point, but it does have the quick change directional lever.
