HELP...

I don't even know where to begin so I guess here is as good as any.

I am marrying a wonderful man in April in Wichita, KS. His whole life has been and always will be dedicated to farming. He is the man of my dreams and now I want to make one come true for him...

It is my greatest wish to SURPRISE him on our wedding day with a Case tractor "get-away" vehicle...even if we just take a short trip nearby/around the church. The newer the better...white dress you know. (I know this is an antique site...but didn't know where else to go!!!) His family farms in western KS and is too far away to help...

If anyone has any ideas...suggestions...can help me out...etc. PLEASE REPLY. I will go to great lengths to make this happen for him.

Any response would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for reading!

I can't help you but thought people might be interested in my brother's wedding a few years ago. After the ceremony at her father's small hobby farm they got on a trailer that had a bench built onto it, pulled by a AC model B. I drove it to the reception, which was at the same place, but we took a big loop around the area, fields, stone walls etc. and back to the house where the wedding was, now the reception area. Later I drove around the yard pulling the trailer with kids on it. All movement was slow in first gear. It was a big hit.

Mary,
I can't help you but I will tell you that my bride to be and myself came to the wedding on a john deere 1951 "R". We were married on the front lawn where I was living and where we now live. I am a punctual person so as the time approaches I go to start the old tractor and my bride wonders where in the heck I am. She hears the sound of the starting motor whining and comes to tell me that it is time for the wedding and not to be messing with my tractors. Of course my plan was to enter the scene on the tractor, stop and walk up beside her. Now with her at the barn with me and not enough time for her to get to the front yard so I can enter, plan B goes into effect. We both come from the barn to the front yard, turn off the road,( but before we do people are backing down the road because I am not stopping or giving them any room) down a little ditch and by less than 2 inches miss the corner post to the pasture fence. We arrived about 10 seconds early and what a wonderful day it was and has been ever since.

I'm too far away, and don't have your brand, but please share a few pictures of your big day, and the tractor ride. There are a bunch of us who'd like to share in the fun!

I wouldn't go to a dealer.....they'd be too worried about liability. Drive around the area and look for the tractor you want, then go talk to the owner. I think you would be surprised at how willing they will be to accomodate you. My brother got married this summer, andafter the ceremony my brother-in-law got the idea to go find a JD for the bride and groom to ride off on. They drove around town and saw a nice 520 setting in a yard.....the guy told them to go ahead and take it. He didn't even go to supervise! Needless to say it was the hit of the wedding!

Mary, this is kind of a long shot, but....Look in the phone book and call Schmidt and Sons...they are in Valley Center I think...they are an Allis Chalmers dealer, and I'd bet 10 to 1 they'll have some kind of used Case tractor. Valley Center isn't that far from Wichita...maybe 20 miles...even if they don't, I'd bet they can maybe hook you up with someone that would be willing...($$$) to make you wish come true. I'm not sure that I gave you the correct spelling, but its close, I know you can find their #, they deal in lots of used tractors and stuff. Hey...let us know how you come out...OK? I hope it works out good for you. I'll bet the hardest part will be getting them to believe you're for real....LOL...I've bought parts from them, never been there though, always over the phone, but they sure seem like real nice people, and have had excellent luck buying things from them.

This shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. We had a family reunion in Great Bend. Wedding at the hotel that same night had a brand new John Deere all decorated for bride & groom. Just keep publicising your need. Good Luck

I dont know how close Seneca KS is but the Case IH dealer there was super accomdationg to me and 4 of my high school kids. We were out at the last National FFA Convention in Kansas City. I took 4 of my seniors for a drive up to Seneca (1-1/2 west/north-west). They let us 'play' on a new 180 hp CaseIH for 5 hours. Never had seen us before but let us go out of sight for some time, super, super good to work with.

Maybe try the local Case-IH dealer and tell them what you want the tractor for(maybe the dealer they do business with) They might be willing to work with you and supply a tractor if for no other reason it would be good press for them. If that doesn't work try their nieghbors, they may be able to help you out.

I can't help you because I am in Georgia but wanted to tell you that I furnished an antique John Deere for a wedding ride and it was the hit of the wedding. Also my wife is from Valley Center Kansas. Good luck in you efforts. Lloyd

By new, you mean the current _red_ tractors, not the older off-white Case tractors right?

We got a ride on a hayrack pulled by a blue Ford for our wedding 4 years ago, thanks to our Matron of Honor. :) I'm the farmer, but about the same situation. Thanks for the memories. :)

Some other sites that might help:

Link

www.talk.agriculture.com

www.harvestin.com (this one is combines only, and you have to search that home page a while to find the discussion area, but a lot of helpful folks there)

Good luck! Would any of his relatives happen to live your way & be in agriculture? Also farm coops & such nearby might be happy to help, or suggest some friendly farmers in the area. Also a Case dealer near you, if you don't mind some publicity, the dealer might be happy to arrange it. :)

This might be a poor time to contact farmers, a lot of us are out in the fields harvesting if we have fall crops. So don't give up if you don't catch anyone in the next 30 days...
